Portland Ford Dealer: Electric Vehicles Start in the Rose City

OregonLive explained in a recent article that Ford chose Portland to launch their electric vehicle tour earlier this week, because the Rose City has shown a commitment to preparing for plug-in vehicles.

The all-electric Ford Focus prototype buzzed through the streets of downtown Portland. The car is expected to get up 100 miles per charge. Ford also announced that they are partnering with Portland General Electric to create more electric vehicles.

The all-electric Ford Focus seems tailored made for Oregonians. The car takes the power and style Ford is known for, and puts it into an environmentally-friendly package.

Our vision has been, let’s become the best premier launch market for electric vehicles in this country. We’re going to have 1,000 charging stations publicly available from Portland down to Eugene by June 30 of next year. – said Charlie Allcock, PGE’s economic development director.
