Ford’s goal to make fuel economy affordable for everyone has arrived with the planned release of a fourth vehicle with 40 mpg.  Auto Channel.com‘s article showcased these new cars premiering at the LA Auto show.  The first three vehicles are the Fiesta SFE, Fusion Hybrid, Lincoln MKZ Hybrid with the 2012 Focus rounding out the 40 mpg club members.

Ford’s drive for fuel economy is paying off for millions of customers who benefit from the largest-ever company investment made several years ago to develop new engines, transmissions, hybrid systems and EcoBoost engine technology – Barb Samardzich, Ford vice president, Powertrain Engineering.

An exciting article by world car fans.com shared that celebrities and Ford enthusiasts, Funkmaster Flex and Snoop Dog, showed off their customized Ford Mustang at the 2010 SEMA show in Las Vegas.  Signing autographs at the Ford booth and on hand to unveil their creation, both stars were relaxed and smiling as they greeted their fans.

The specially tuned Mustang has Snoop Dog’s name emblazoned across the windshield and delivers debonair style with features like custom smoked taillights from Team Baurtwell, a body kit from 3dCarbon and 3-piece billet wheels from NC Forged.  Also included was a suspension upgrade, Steeda lowering kit along with new sway bars and springs and high-end Baer brakes.

A long time custom car enthusiast in his Brooklyn-based workshop, Funkmaster Flex’s creative efforts have previously reworked the Ford Explorer, Fiesta, Flex and Taurus SHO models.  Here’s hoping we get a first-hand look at the these swanky vehicles at the upcoming 2011 Portland Auto Show in January!

The 2011 Ford Fiesta already contains the service, but by releasing SDK, Ford is placing initiative onto the applications designers themselves.  Ever since the launch of it’s Sync My Ride developer landing page, Ford has been receiving proposals, over 1,000 to date.  Now working on categorizing the submissions, Ford is also encouraging developers to take creative leaps with new mashups of services that are enhancements to the modern driving experience.

Ford’s AppLink for Sync first app roll-outs will include Pandora Internet Radio, Stitcher Smart Radio, and the OpenBeak Twitter client, with plans to include Apple iOS shortly. AppLink interfaces currently with Android and BlackBerry phones first and is available on Sync equipped selected 2011 vehicles.
