Portland Auto Dealer: Ford to Auction 2013 Ford Shelby GT500 to Benefit JDRF
In yesterday’s press release, Ford announced that a 2013 Shelby GT500 will be auctioned, in partnership with the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction, to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
Held every year since 1971, the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction has helped Ford raise more than $3 million for the JDRF in the last five years. Type 1 diabetes, formerly called juvenile diabetes because it’s usually diagnosed in childhood, is an autoimmune condition that affects nearly 1.3 million Americans, or five percent of people with diabetes.
Other Ford cars that have been auctioned in the name of the JDRF include production samples of the Shelby GT500KR and the Shelby GT, as well as the Grabber Blue Mustang Boss 302 Laguna Seca last year.
On Saturday, January 21, the auction in Scottsdale, Arizona, will be televised live on SPEED Channel. Ford’s President of The Americas, Mark Fields and members of SVT will join the one-of-a-kind car on stage for the event. The 650-horsepower GT500 comes equipped with six-point harness Recaro racing seats, donated by Recaro North America, and is signed by the members of the SVT engineering team. It will likely remain “a museum piece as it can’t be registered for road use,” according to AutoBlog.com.

Let’s start with the outside. The Shelby’s aggressive exterior design is complemented by a shiny coat of white paint with a red racing stripe down the middle, red accents, and a rear spoiler. Its wheels, while common to the Shelby model, can hardly be called “stock”. The interior is equipped with leather-trimmed sport bucket seats with racing stripes coordinated with the exterior color. Features include satellite radio capability, Microsoft Sync, electronic dash, leather seats, navigation, and much more.
While these features are certainly impressive, you’re probably wondering what’s under the hood. The Shelby includes a 5.4-liter 4V supercharged aluminum block V8 engine which achieves a jaw-dropping 550 horsepower. It comes with a 6-speed manual transmission for ultimate control both in the city and country roads.

Portland Car Dealer: Ford Mustang to Receive Full Makeover for 50th Anniversary
With the “retro” design upgrade of 2005 and further enhancements in 2010, the Ford Mustang has successfully evolved in a modern way while staying true to its 
timeless history.
Enter 2015.
As Motor Trend anticipates the debut of the 50th anniversary model, it was leaked that the Mustang will again be receiving a major upgrade. Perhaps the biggest shift for this Mustang will be its deployment to other markets where it will be designed, like England, Japan, and Austrailia. This is largely why speculators are predicting a more sleek design and smaller frame.
A specific list of upgrades hasn’t yet been confirmed, but one certainty is that this Mustang will finally get an independent rear suspension and ditch the outdated live axle. What shouldn’t change is Ford’s newest engine, the 3.7-liter V-6 and 5.0-liter V-8 in the 2012 model. Rumor also has it that Ford’s brand-new EcoBoost turbocharged four-cylinder could bring a revival of the SVO model as well in 2015.

The Ford Mustang has a rich history and continues to reinvent itself year after year as a compelling vehicle of the future. As Motor Trend reports, the 2012 Shelby GTS Mustang is likely to gain popularity with the younger crowd, with both style and performance upgrades. 
The latest Shelby Mustang comes equipped with a custom grille and bumper, bespoke ventilated hood, and the now famous twin racing stripes. Other visual details, including custom chrome wheels and Ford emblems, add to its individuality and will contribute to making this model a future collector’s item.
The 2012 Shelby GTS Mustang doesn’t disappoint in the mechanics or performance departments, either. It includes an option for either a V-6 or V-8 engine, with the V-8 supercharger version reaching a jaw-dropping 624 horsepower. Other notable features include upgraded wheels, tires, and suspension as well as cold air intake. It also includes new springs, stabilizer bars, Baer brakes, and a front strut tower brace from Ford Racing.

Portland Auto Dealer: The Ford Mustang GT Convertible is Still Ruling the Road
With the Ford Mustang, one thing hasn’t changed with time – it is still one of the hottest sport vehicles on the market. In a recent Auto Guide review, one editor compared the new 2011 Mustang GT with his original 1987 version and found vast improvements in all categories, making it still one of the best rides on the road.
Other than its classic design, the Mustang’s main attraction is raw power. The new GT boasts a 5.0-liter V8, the first 5.0-liter engine to power a Mustang since 1995 and with nearly 100 more horsepower than last year’s model, the 2011 GT is setting the standard for vehicles in its class. Fuel efficiency is also increased over last year’s model and the entire outfit uses high-tech American aluminum instead of the iron of yesteryear.

Not only is the Ford Mustang Boss 302 a hot-looking sports car, it can tear up some serious pavement. Edmunds Inside Line took the new Mustang for a spin on the famous Laguna Seca raceway and found the vehicle to be unrivaled in its performance.
The original Boss 302 was introduced in 1969 as a road racing car for the street. The 2012 version is more powerful, louder, quicker and offers better handling than any previous models. It is offered with two levels of equipment: the standard Boss 302 and the limited-edition Boss 302 Laguna Seca package. Both come with 5.0-liter engine that cranks out 444 horsepower.
